Watercolour on Paper: an Illustrated Poem, (Haiga), Haiku, (Senryu)

This is another one of my illustrated poems, from my handmade book, “Poems from Home: a Collection of Illustrated Haiku”. Given time, I plan to put them together as an ebook – which can also be printed – using a great app called “Book Creator”.

The terms: haiku, senryu, haiga, and their various definitions, I talk about in my post,  “Watercolour Scanned into My iPad and a Haiku (Senryu)”; where you can also find links to some excellent sites, which have more information on these matters. As well, there is more information in my post, “About Haiku and Tips on Writing them”.

Hope you feel inspired to create a: a haiku, haiga, senryu or illustrated poem – small homes – yet in some ways, can provide large spaces for your thoughts to roam.

    1. Wonderful words from a such a talented and skilled artist, thank you so much, Tom! I had a big map on the kitchen wall with rough drafts of pics and haiku underneath; and in snippets of time, between household duties, I’d work on them. So I love your words, “symbiotic relations” I think they really suit this collection of work. Thank you, again. 🙂 I hope you saw my reply to your lovely last comment…I prefer to send them from the old comments section, but I am starting to use the new section more..     1. Thank you! I was quite excited to find your blog on the weekend. Such exquisite work! I really love miniatures, and I was doing a bit of an internet search for artists who paint miniatures; particularly a WordPress site…and that’s how I found your wonderful blog!
      I tend to work fairly small; A4 size and under. However, I haven’t drawn or painted a miniature for a long while. Your works certainly inspires me to do so! I can see you have put a lot of work into creating your blog and I’m going to enjoy looking around it more.

    1. Thank you so much Kat! I have used ink line and watercolour over the years, to do a few of my handmade books. However, they’re not children’s books, but I can see the style could suit that. My smallish books are one of my poems (for us older folk, hmm….though I like to think we often big kids at heart) with part of the verse on each page, which I illustrate, mostly using this style. I have mentioned them a little on my blog; hope to share more about them, in the future…if I ever get time with all the dishes I have to do around here. Have a great day! ~ Janette
